According to a new study led by researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, United States, women who eat large amounts of fruits and vegetables every day have a lower chance of developing breast cancer, especially for aggressive types of cancer. This study analyzed questionnaire data on diet in 88,301 women in the Nurses 'Health Study and further studies involving 93,844 female participants from the Nurses' Health Study II. Questionnaires were distributed every 4 years, starting in 1980. Respondent data on breast cancer risk factors such as age, weight, smoking habits, and the presence or absence of cancer history in the families of participants, were asked through questionnaires conducted every 2 years.The result? Researchers found that women who consumed more than 5.5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day had a 11% lower risk of developing breast cancer than those who ate only 2.5 servings. As an explanation, in this study, one-serving dose was defined as one cup containing raw vegetable vegetables, half a cup of cooked vegetables, and half a cup of cut fruit.When analyzing, the researchers concluded that the high content of antioxidants and micronutrients in vegetables and fruit, a powerful opponent for cancer does not develop.
